This class will walk you the basics of sewing with your sewing machine from knowing your needles and threads to using the basic stitches and feet for mending/sewing. This class is open to newer Viking, Pfaff, Elna, or Janome sewing machines, but not Sergers. The model of the sewing machine needs instructor approval before enrolling for the class. The sewing machine instruction manual is essential to bring to class, in order to participate in the class. This class is for people who did not buy a sewing machine at Murray's Fabric Store. There is another section for people who did buy there sewing machine at Murray's Fabric Store. Did you purchase a new sewing machine at Murray's Fabric Store and/or would like to review how to use your sewing machine for machine quilting? This class will cover the basics of sewing machine quilting with your machine. Perhaps you haven't used your sewing machine in a while and need a review, then this is the class to take. We will cover basic techniques for quilting, and the different accessories that you can use with your machine for various quilting techniques. Please, bring a practice quilt sandwich to the class for machine quilting practice. Also, this class is open to those who would like to practice using or to review the basics for how to use their sewing machine with rulers, such as the Sew Steady template Ruler Sampler Set or the Janome Sampler Set. Machine quilting and beginner quilting books are available in the store. Students that are enrolled in Basics of Sewing Machine Quilting will receive a 10% discount on quilting machine basics class materials at Murray's Fabric Store . This class will cover embroidery threads, stabilizers and how to hoop your embroidery fabrics project with stabilizer. Examples for embroidery will be shown, such as terry cloth bath towel, kitchen tea towel, knit shirt, sweat shirt, wool sweater, jean jacket, as well as other examples. Then, we will walk through how to start embroidering a design in the embroidery machine software and smart save, if your embroidery machine has this feature (we may not finish an actual embroidery in class). Did you just purchase an embroidery machine or would you like to review the basics of embroidering on a variety a different fabrics and how to hoop the fabrics? This class will cover embroidery threads, stabilizers and how to hoop your embroidery fabrics project with stabilizer. Examples for embroidery will be shown, such as terry cloth bath towel, kitchen tea towel, knit shirt, sweat shirt, wool sweater, jean jacket, as well as other examples. Then, we will walk through how to start embroidering a design in the embroidery machine software and smart save, if your embroidery machine has this feature (we may not finish an actual embroidery in class). This class is open only to Viking and Pfaff Embroidery Machines not purchased at Murray's Fabric Store. The embroidery machine instruction manual is essential to participate in the class.
